What
Online therapy, also known as telehealth, is becoming more popular and recognized as an equally effective form of treatment to in-person therapy. Using a secure and private internet connection, we can speak to each other "face-to-face". That is, from the comfort of your own home, office or wherever you can get a strong internet connection, we can have a normal therapy session.
I provide online therapy sessions for individuals and couples. However, due to the interactive nature of play therapy with children, I do not provided online therapy to children. I can, however, provide parent consultations via the internet.
Why
Online therapy is ideal for people who, for some reason or another, are not able, or simply don't want to, come into my therapy office. Maybe you're very busy and don't have the time to sit in traffic to come in. Maybe you're located out of state (I can provide online therapy for people in California, where I hold a current license as a Clinical Psychologist). Maybe you've decided to take a trip out of town but you don't want to miss a session. Perhaps you have some sort of condition that makes travel challenging, such as recovering from surgery or other illness. Maybe you're a busy parent that takes advantage of your child taking a nap to treat yourself to a session. You might also be concerned about privacy and don't want to risk someone seeing you at my office or in the waiting room.
How
All you need is access to the internet. I provide you with a link to a safe, secure and HIPAA compliant online platform and you click on it. Easy peasy. Since I won't be able to ensure privacy like I do in my office, you will have to monitor your own environment to ensure that you're not sharing confidential information with those around you. I would not recommend conducting your online session in a cafe or library, for instance. I recommend finding a private and quiet space in your home or office where you won't be disturbed for the duration of the session.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or are interested in giving it a try.
