As social beings we are evolutionarily hard wired to seek connection and find comfort and solace in one another. When this connection is broken it can leave us feeling hurt, lonely, abandoned, angry, vindictive. We can sometimes find ourselves acting in ways that are hurtful to ourselves and the people we love. It may seem like we will never have the love we want.
Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples ("EFT"), a “proven-effective model, with improvement rates in the 90th percentile, and amazing recovery rates at 70-72%” addresses the attachment needs and emotions unique to each couple and identifies what gets in the way of partners being available to connect with one another. Once a couple's unique dynamic is discovered, I help the couple to find new ways of relating to one another, creating a new dynamic to replace the old one. Couples report feeling more connected and more loving with one another. I have completed the 30-hour EFT Externship and an additional 20 hours of training and have over three years of supervision experience with an EFT-certified couples’ therapist. I can also help interracial and cross cultural couples’ navigate their unique cultural challenges.
